Couple things to take away from this list:

1. I for one would have rather had Business Insider do a list of the 50 most dominant athletes in American professional sport as opposed to the top 50 most dominant athletes alive. No doubt that Martina Sáblíková is a phenomenal athletic specimen and I’m sure she could skate circles around me, but I have a hard time buying that she’s a more ‘dominant’ athlete than say, Tom Brady, who is fresh off his fourth Super Bowl season posting monster numbers throwing to a bunch of cast off WR’s. Does that make me uncultured and slightly xenophobic? Probably, but if you’re a regular QCBL reader don’t sit there and act like you’re some big women’s figure skating buff because I’m just not buying it.

2. Poor Cincinnati, can’t get any love anywhere. Maybe deservedly so, but I certainly think you could make a case for several local guys. If GIancarlo Stanton and Miguel Cabrera are going to check in on the list, I think you have to start talking about where Joey Votto stacks up amongst those guys. Sure he’s had a couple ‘down’ years (if you can even really call them down years) lately, but right now today, I don’t know if there is a better offensive player in all of baseball. In the same light, if Kershaw is coming in at no. 8, how come Johnny Cueto isn’t getting any play? I’m not gonna sit here and act like Johnny is a better pitcher than Clayton Kershaw, he’s close, but when Johnny is on his A-game he’s as tough to hit as anyone on Earth right now. Let’s not forget about Aroldis Chapman either. Last time I checked, this is the list of the most ‘dominant’ athletes around and if sitting down major league hitters in the ninth like they’re motherfucking high school players isn’t the definition of ‘dominant’ then I don’t know what is. I’m trying to not let my hometown bias get in the way but… Who am I kidding. That’s exactly what I’m doing.

3. As much as I can sit here and pick this list apart, nobody should complain about BI’s no. 1 pick. Ronda Rousey is hands down the most dominant athlete within his/her respective sport no contest. There isn’t a women’s fighter out there that can even come close to holding Rousey’s jockstrap bra. Hell, I don’t even know if there’s a chick that can even last longer than 60 seconds in the ring with that girl. I’m pretty sure that she could probably beat up like 99.9% of dudes on planet Earth too. Just a big, sexy, hand to hand combat, killing machine. Having said that, S’up Ron?

About Q-Ball

Owner, operator AKA The Commish. Q-Ball is that asshole at the office who refuses to brew a fresh pot of coffee. Not because he doesn't want to, he's just too embarrassed to admit that he doesn't know how.
