Hard to believe, but we’re coming up HARD on one full year of operation. That’s right, it’s been damn near 365 days since I first hit the world with my thoughts on Bengals football, Humpday Hotties and everything in between. Plus there’s a few things I thought I needed to address so what better time than the present to hold an annual-ish State Of the League Address.
First and foremost, my apologies for not posting as diligently as I’d have liked to the past week or so. Long story short, I’ve been travelling for work, meeting and sharing ideas and culture with the finest minds this Earth has to offer, and tackling the World’s big problems head on. Translated: They’re doing some construction on my office so I’ve had to switch temporary desks like 4 times in the span of a week all while trying to teach some weird ass foreigners how to use systems so straightforward even a nutless baboon could probably master them which naturally has been cutting into some of my ability to blog. That should be coming to a close so expect the usual workload from your boy here very shortly. That’s a Q-Ball promise.
Secondly, Let’s address content. I’ve had some folks asking about more UC/XU and just general NCAA material, to which I’ve decided to mainly handle professional Cincinnati sports. Not that I don’t care about the ranks of collegiate sport, that’s just a lot more material to handle and frankly I won”t have the time or the resources to make this the best and funniest blog I possibly can, which has been the goal from the very beginning. From here on out I’ll be doing mostly Bengals, Reds, local stories, and ridiculous news/Internet happenings. Same voice, same hot fire I’ve been spitting from the jump. Besides, there are plenty of great local blogs that handle some of the college stuff I can’t get too, namely Cincy vs. Everyone, Bearcats Blog, and Bearcat Journal. Go check them out and give them a follow. They’re friends of the program.
Next, just a few housekeeping bits on how I plan to get my stuff to you, the good people. After all, everything you’ll ever see on here is by the people (me) for the people. That’s just how I roll. Namely:
– I’ve been thinking about ditching the @TheBeerLeague_ account and Tweeting strictly from my personal account, @Quinetime for a couple reasons. Mainly it’s just tough to be mildly funny/generate content from one account let alone two and I don’t want either account to get watered down with carbon copy Tweets from one to the other, so I figured why not just pick one and roll with that. You know, classic “don’t half ass two things, whole ass one thing scenario.” Ron Swanson taught me that. I’ll link the site to my personal account and start tweeting links and stuff from there, so if you’ve been following over on @TheBeerLeague_ and you like what you’ve read, follow @Quinetime for the same stories and nonsense with much more lame attempts at jokes and hot takes pertaining to the local sports scene and everything else happening on the Internet. I’ve been told occasionally that I can be somewhat funny on the Twitter dot com. Not sure how much I share the same sentiment but at least I got that going for me.
– Also I’ve been thinking about setting up a QCBL Facebook page. Kind of barbaric, I know, but a few blogs that I’ve written in the past couple weeks have been getting a lot of traction on The Book, as much of a surprise to me as that is to you I’m sure because apparently people still rock Facebook? Now you’re crazy aunt who still hasn’t quite mastered the art of the Internet and hangs out on FB all day can tap right into The League which I’m sure will make for some interesting results.
Lastly, Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has supported QCBL from the jump. Anyone who reads on a regular basis, anyone who has ever submitted content, anyone who has given me advice or helped with any sort of technical snags, or really just anyone who has found any of my ramblings entertaining enough to take time out of their day to enjoy. Truth is I don’t care if a post gets 5 views or 5,000 views. This is something I’ve always loved doing and if you’re one of those folks I mentioned earlier be aware that your readership and support means far more to me than you’ll ever know.
God bless, Godspeed, and God save The League.
