AZ Cardinals running back Chris Johnson was so determined to revive his NFL career — he hit the gym like a maniac this off-season … even with a bullet still lodged in his shoulder.
We spoke with Jay Glazer — who trained CJ2K’s at his Unbreakable Performance Center in L.A. over the summer … and says he was SHOCKED when Johnson approached him to work out after being hit in a drive-by shooting back in March.
But even with the injury, Glazer says Johnson refused to give up — pushing himself harder than most professional athletes who walk through the door.
That’s the kind of grind and do or die attitude you get from growing up on the mean streets of Orlando, Florida. They didn’t teach that kind of toughness where I grew up. If that were me and I had a bullet in my arm, I probably wouldn’t go to work for like a month and I’d definitely play it up for the sake of the blog just to get a few laughs and a little bit of sympathy. Maybe even try to make chicks feel bad that I’m hurt and try to get a pity fuck or two out of it (probably not though). Come to think of it, that dedication is probably the only reason I’m not in the NFL right now. That and the fact that I’m skinny, white, slow, and haven’t played a game of actual organized football in over a decade, but other than that, me and Chris Johnson are basically the exact same guy. Exactly the same except he has a slug in his shoulder and a 2,000 yard season under his belt and I don’t.
